In today’s society, the average human equates success to money. Plain and simple. The more money you have, the more success you have. We visualize what having an abundance of money could mean for us…the ability to make purchases in large amounts, the opportunity to create a unique lifestyle, and the need to feel financially secure.
Finding success in material possessions does not create happiness or success. Working hard to achieve your potential and finding your self-worth along the way is one way of looking at success. Learning how to find the balance between working hard and taking the time to recognize your abilities and skills are a reflection on not only yourself but your family environment.
When we take the time to self-reflect, only then can we recognize our abilities. So many times we are looking to ‘keep up with the jones’ rather than keep up with ourselves. Cliché as this may sound, life does not work as a sprint. It takes time to develop skill set and knowledge. Wisdom comes with time and life experiences. Recognizing your own self-worth and following your passions will result in a long term set up.
Once you have acknowledged your own personal awareness of what it is you are trying to achieve, you will then be able to take the next step forward. Having this sense of self-worth means that you value yourself and if you value yourself, the respect will follow.
Build positive relationships that can positively guide you in your life’s decisions. Take challenges that encourage yourself to improve yourself but give yourself a break every now and then. Learn to say NO and not to overextend yourself.
Remind yourself that it’s ok if things don’t go your way. And when lemons enter your life, create different routes and overcome those obstacles. Never settle for less than you deserve.
